Pig iron is a form of iron that is produced by melting iron ore
along with charcoal and limestone under very high pressure.
Pig iron is an intermediate product
of the iron industry. Pig iron has a very high carbon content, typically 3.5-4.5%, along with silica and
other constituents of dross, which makes it very brittle, and not useful directly as a material except for
limited applications. Pig iron is made by smelting iron ore into a transportable ingot of impure high
carbon-content iron in a blast furnace as an ingredient for further processing steps
Thus it is brittle and unstable that can't be used in this form. However, it is refined
through further melting and blending to wrought iron and steel which are together most widely used materials
on earth.
The different grades of Pig Iron we manufacture are

Steel Grade Pig Iron; and
2. Foundry Grade Pig Iron.
The Pig Iron manufactured at our units is
distinct due to its low levels of Sulphur and Phosphorous. Low levels of these elements reduce the costs
associated with desulphurization for furnace owners and help them with flexibility in preparing charge
mixes. Further, the use of this product manufactured by our Company ensures high quality castings, free from
defects due to low levels of impurities and intrusions. Consistent and appropriate levels of carbon and
silicon help in providing excellent machineability of castings.
